The Career Change Podcast Episode 62:
When A New Career + Job Is NOT The Solution

Not all career changes are (or need to be) as dramatic as those you hear about on social media. What matters is that you solve the right problem. For you.

For example: what if your real career problem isn’t your current profession or line of work, but rather your day-to-day experience of working for someone else (as their employee)?

Most professionals over 40 who are unhappy in their current job default to thinking the solution is to just find a new career and then get a job in that new career. And for some people, that works out great. But for others, they make that change and still end up feeling just as unhappy, just as stuck — and sometimes even worse off than before.

Let’s make sure you avoid that!

In this episode I want to introduce you to a really important distinction that I don’t see spoken about a lot — but that is vital for professionals over 40 to get right:

Knowing the difference between your work subject and your work context — and getting crystal clear on what bit(s) need to change!

And I want to show you — through a real client story — why for some of you, the answer is not another career or another job at all. It’s becoming your own boss!

Let’s make sure you don’t go from the frying pan to the fire when it comes to your career change strategy — by making sure you identify why you actually need a change in the first place (so you don’t end up replicating or making things worse in your next thing!).
